Norris Campground in Yellowstone National Park to Missoula, Montana
Day's distance: 552km
Total to date: 4,837km
Temperature range: 4C at the campground to 27C at Missoula.
Last night was chilly. I've been experimenting with getting my hammock warm and I'd removed the Hennessy undercover and pad because, for the previous night (Wednesday night) it didn't seem to make a difference. Well, I wish I'd kept it on. Not that I stayed awake all night, but did wake up a few times to wrap my sleeping bag a little tighter.
Today, I'll be taking one last loop around the park prior to heading to Missoula. Breakfast in Canyon village was good and a chance to write up some postcards. Then north, generally following the Yellowstone River and climbing up Mount Washburn with its odd, seemingly crystalline, rock formations next to the road. Onwards to Mammoth Springs where I took time out to walk around. A last goodbye to Yellowstone National Park and I was off to I-90 once again and Missoula where I stayed in a very nice Super 8.
